About FFmix

FFmix is a local-first FFmpeg GUI for macOS that shows the exact command before it runs — drop in video, audio or images, pick a task or describe it in a sentence, confirm, and everything processes on your Mac. Files never leave the device.

FFmix is, in one line, a Local-first FFmpeg GUI for Mac. It turns the power of the command-line tool ffmpeg into a native Mac app that anyone can use — without sending your files anywhere.

What FFmix is

Files never leave your Mac

Every job — compress, convert, extract, GIF, subtitles — runs locally through the bundled, open-source ffmpeg engine. There is no upload step, and it works offline.

The command you see is the command that runs

Expand “Advanced” on any task to read the exact ffmpeg command before it runs. You can copy it, edit it, or switch to manual mode. Nothing is hidden behind the buttons.

AI pipelines only run after you confirm

Describe a job in a sentence and FFmix lays out an editable, step-by-step plan. It never executes until you review and confirm — and only the sentence you type is ever sent for parsing, never a file.

What FFmix is not

Platform & availability

FFmix is a native macOS app for macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon, available now on the Mac App Store. The ffmpeg engine is built in, so there’s nothing else to install and it works offline. See the security & local-processing page for exactly how your data is handled.
