Local video processing

Local video processing on your Mac

FFmix processes video, audio and images entirely on your Mac through the bundled ffmpeg engine — no upload, no account, works offline. The only thing that can ever leave your device is a short AI sentence you choose to type; your media never does.

Why process video locally

🔒 Private by default

Your footage never travels to a server. Interviews, internal recordings and client work stay on your machine.

✈️ Works offline

The engine is built in, so everything runs with no connection — on a plane, a locked-down network, or anywhere.

⚡ No upload wait

A 2 GB file isn’t uploaded and downloaded again. It’s read straight off your disk, so big files don’t mean long waits.

👤 No account

No sign-in, no quotas on local tasks. Download the app and start — nothing to register.

Your files never take a round trip

Your filesFFmix writes the commandffmpeg runs on your MacOutput to a folder

No step in this chain touches the network. FFmix translates your clicks into a real ffmpeg command, runs it as a local process, and writes the result next to your original. It’s the same whether you’re online or not.

What runs locally

Everything FFmix does happens on-device:

  • Compress to a target size or quality (H.264 / HEVC)
  • Convert MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI → MP4
  • Extract audio to MP3 / WAV
  • Make GIFs and export still frames
  • Burn subtitles, or transcribe them locally with Whisper — audio never uploaded
  • Watermark, merge, trim, crop, change speed

What stays on your device

A summary — the full data flow and what the server stores is on the security page.

Built for sensitive work

Journalists & researchers

Source interviews and field footage that can’t go to a third-party server.

Legal, medical & enterprise

Evidence, case files and internal recordings under confidentiality or compliance rules.

Creators under NDA

Unreleased cuts and client work that must stay off the cloud until launch.

The one thing that can leave: the AI sentence

FFmix has an optional AI box where you can describe a job in words. Simple requests are understood on-device and send nothing. Only a compound instruction is sent to a cloud parser, and even then only the sentence you typed crosses the network — never a media file — and the plan it returns only runs after you confirm. The security & local processing page shows exactly what’s sent and what’s stored.

FAQ

Does FFmix work offline?

Yes, fully. The ffmpeg engine is built into the app, so converting, compressing, extracting audio and the rest all work with no internet connection at all.

Is my video ever uploaded?

No. Your media files are processed on your Mac and never leave the device — there is no upload step anywhere in the app.

Do I need an account or sign-in?

No. Local tasks need no account, no sign-in and no quotas. You download the app and start working.

Is the AI feature local too?

Simple requests are parsed on-device by built-in rules, so nothing is sent. Only a compound sentence is sent to the cloud parser — and only the text you typed, never a file. You can read the full data flow on the security page.
